Meat Loaf, Grammy Award-Winning Singer And Actor, Dead At 74

Meat Loaf, the Grammy Award-winning singer and actor, died Thursday night. No cause of death was given. He was 74.

The family confirmed the death in a statement shared on Facebook:

“We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man,” the family said in a statement.

“From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!” they added.

Born Marvin Lee Aday in Dallas, Texas, the entertainer known as Meat Loaf enjoyed a six-decade career, appearing in more than 50 movies and television shows and selling more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell” trilogy alone sold more than 65 million records and earned him the Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the 1993 smash hit “I’d Do Anything For Love.”

On-screen, Meat Loaf chewed up the scenery with roles in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,”“Fight Club” and “Wayne’s World.”
